My name is Parker Tremaine. I am currently a seventh grader at Langston Hughes Middle School. This year my school is doing a passion project. The project is that each student picks something they are passionate about to change the world. I chose helping kids whose parents have cancer. I chose this topic because I understand what they are going through. My dad died when I was 10, and I can relate to how they are feeling and I want to help. I would like to make care packages for the children of patients, and I am fundraising to buy the items for these packages. The packages would include items that helped me going through the process which are; a small teddy bear, a gift card for ice cream, a flyer for Camp Kesem (a camp where kids who have a parent who has/ had cancer can go to talk and have fun), and a note from me with tips and advice. I plan to donate the care packages to a local oncology office.
