The Story

My name is David M. Boje, Ph.D. and I am raising money to protect the pair of Swainson's Hawks and their two hatchlings who nest in a tree at New Mexico State University, each April and fly back to Argentina (7,000 miles) in August.  This year (2016) there are two hatchlings. All money donated goes to signs, posters, t-shirts, and umbrellas that help people of all ages at NMSU walk safely about campus in vicinity of nest or hatchlings learning to fly. Getting too close results in Hawk parents swooping down, even dive bombing to chase humans away to safe distance. Our campaign also keeps the Swainson's Hawk pair and their hatchlings safe from people, who tend to get too close, walk around mindless to Nature, stare blindly at cell phones, cannot hear with earphones in ears, and are generally not paying attention to their Situation.

You can donate:
$500 at Hawk level
$300 at Fledgling level
$100 at Hatchling level
$20   at nest level
$10   at umbrella level

Each umbrella has picture of Swainson's hawk on it, and is given to people at the campus so they can protect the Hawk and protect themselves from possible injury. Umbrellas will be placed around campus for visitors, students, faculty, staff to use

Each sign posted or stenciled (on sidewalk) helps educate people of all ages walking about to keep Hawk and Human safe.

Thank you for your donation

RUMORS IS TRUE - A HAWK PRESERVE COMING TO NMSU. "At the last space committee meeting, the group suggested thatwe send out an update, and we are pleased to tell you that many people have found offices and storage elsewhere. When the Jett folks move back home next spring, Regents Row will be close to vacant and could be a potential hawk preserve." - Sept16,2016.

THANK YOU FOR $890 in donations. We want to install web cams and make these Hawks the icon of NMSU. Cornell raised $450,000 with their web cam. We can too! for donations

Umbrellas have been placed along Williams at the south west portion of lot 48 and along the sidewalk west of Regent’s RowPlease Donate so we can order more umbrellas to help:
DONATE BY CLICKING HERE- we have raised $890 and are buying more umbrellas to put out for free use. Thank you.

Dear Supporters of Swainson's Hawks at New Mexico State University,

You have raised $520 toward the umbrellas, and all the money is going to providing umbrellas to protect both Hawks, and our visitors to NMSU. We are raising money to get webcams in several areas on campus, one for the Hawks' nest. It will take research, sorting out who pays how much for bandwidth, who takes care of the web site, and insuring we follow policies for filming on campus (should someone walk under the tree where nest is, etc.)

Thank you for your support.
