The 2018 Famine: Will You Help Us Feed The Unfortunate Who Are Going Hungry Today?
WHAT: For 30 hours, we are going hungry to raise funds which will be used to empower local communities in their strive to eliminate poverty and hunger.
WHEN: February 23rd and February 24th, 2018
WHY: 45 million Americans or 14.5% of our population live below the poverty line. Many of these are Youth. The clock is ticking and we are taking action now!
HOW YOU CAN HELP
- Give—Sponsor one of our youth using the donation form in the Narthex after our service on January 28th; and it will be available right through February 18th. Please make your check out to First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen with Famine in the memo, insert it in the envelope provided, then place in the collection plate or send to the church office OR donate here: www.youcaring.com/the2018famine
- Volunteer—Join us for Friday and/or Saturday for an eye-opening Famine weekend; many hands make light work. We also need volunteers for “pre-famine” activities. https://goo.gl/forms/A7wkdjN9AXkTJGCK2
- Donate Groceries—Place groceries on your front porch to be picked up by the Youth on Saturday. A form for this activity will also be provided on the Sundays or February 4th and February 11th.
- Pray—Ask God to bring us together and to help those in need every day.
OUR GOAL: We are trying to raise $10,000 which will assist local communities in their Anti-Poverty movements and it will feed over 10,000 people. After event expenses, funds will go directly to Kids Against Hunger, the FPC Food Pantry, and World Vision.
