Don't miss the the Battle of the Badges on Saturday, September 19, 2015, from 8AM to 5PM, when police motor officers from around the country descend upon Ormond Beach, Florida, to battle it out for the coveted title of "Daytona Boss" in a friendly competition to raise support for at-risk youth and also the devastated families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
The 1st Annual Bruce Rossmeyer's Destination Daytona Motorcycle Skills Challenge promises to be an exciting event for both competitors and spectators. Come out and watch the motorcycle officers demonstrate their expertise and skills in a highly technical course. All Motor Officers pride themselves in being precise and sharp. Competition riders take precision to a whole new level, and the courses involved in the competition quickly identify who needs more practice and those who have what it takes to be considered among the best. Also, there will be kids activities including games, bounce houses, and all kinds of law enforcement equipment and vehicles from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office. Food and beverages will be available for sale, along with t-shirts and challenge coins.
We not only hope you will come out and support these officers in an exciting, fun event, but also join us in our efforts to raise support for the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches and the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.). Please take this opportunity to make a donation right now. We are counting on everyone, especially you, to help us achieve our goal to support at-risk youth and the devastated families of officers killed in the line of duty.
About the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches...For over 50 years, the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches endeavored to build lives and mend hearts by providing residential, educational, camping, and counseling services to thousands of unwanted or troubled youth. Their goal has been to produce lawful, productive citizens by giving them the opportunities to be successful and avoid a lifetime in the criminal justice system. Volusia County Sheriff Ben Johnson and sheriffs across Florida are committed to the success of this vital program for Florida's youth. For more information, please visit www.youthranches.org.
About the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.)...Each year, between 140 and 160 law enforcement officers are killed in the line of duty and their families and co-workers are left to cope with the tragic loss. For over 30 years, C.O.P.S. provides resources to help them rebuild their shattered lives. Also, C.O.P.S. provides hands-on programs designed specifically for each survivor to receive support from peers who know how they feel, attend seminar sessions specifically designed for their needs and obtain resources to help them on their journey of grief and coping. Their programs are held in a relaxed setting that is removed from the stressors of everyday life and are free for survivors to attend. For more information, please visit www.nationalcops.org.
About the VCSO Charity Committee, Inc...The VCSO Charity Committee, Inc. membership is made up of volunteer deputy sheriffs dedicated to seeing Sheriff Johnson's vision of supporting the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches realized. Since its formation in 2006, this dedicated group raised well over $400,000 for the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches through a variety of local community events - school bus races, fishing tournaments, bowling tournaments, softball games, and a comedy show with Larry the Cable Guy. Along with several corporate sponsors, local businesses and residents also stepped-up to make these events very successful with all proceeds going to our designated beneficiary. In keeping with this high standard, and expanding our efforts in 2015 to help more, all proceeds from the 1st Annual Bruce Rossmeyer's Destination Daytona Motorcycle Skills Challenge will go directly to the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches and to C.O.P.S.
