We spent this last weekend at Holiday Lakes. Due to concerns of safety issues we were hesitant at first, about this area. This secluded neighborhood has a reputation for being "rough and unsafe." In my heart, I knew this is where we needed to go next. My new friend Renee, as seen below in the pictures in a red T-shirt, was our tour guide. She has been out there at least three days a week bringing supples and asking the needs of the people. Renee introduced us to so many sweet, gracious, and amazing families. Families that had the most basic, but CRUCIAL needs. Holiday Lakes was a scene of people that were not only devastated by the flood waters of hurricane Harvey, but have nowhere to go while they are trying to recover. There were so many instances where families were still having to live in the single story homes, while they were mucking them out. 😢 Through donations we passed out over 70 blow up mattresses, pillows, and sheets. These were so important because there were stories of people having to sleep in their car or sleep on the mattresses that have been soaked by the bacteria infested floodwaters. My master griller hubby smoked four big briskets so we could pass out brisket sandwiches, chips, and a full 6x12 Uhaul box trailer, full of food and cleaning supples.  A big thanks as always to our See a Need Fill a Need donors, Renee Makos Groom and her son Austin for paving the way and your huge heart, and Amanda and the volunteers at the Interfaith distribution center in Conroe. Thank you for your support to bless these families with the things they need.  In the words of my sweet seven-year-old "it was the best day everrrrr!!!!" 😁😁😁😁😁😁

Just call Tyson E Leonard the Burger King lol. Saturday we headed out to Tyson's parents community were they had water in their homes up to the second story😮. We pulled up next to a couple of families that had driven 4 hours to show up and cook. So sweet !!!!!!!!  We were able to hand out another 150 burgers

Thank you again Shen Milsom & Wilke for your cash donation. We have really been able to make it go far and keep that Texans grill hot.

Blair Adkins with Chick-fil-A also donated another 2 huge plates of nuggets. The volunteers gobbled those up quick.

As I was in HEB the guy that was stocking up the bread shelves asked me why I was  buying so much bread. I told him my story and showed a few pictures. He then offered to follow me up to the check out and by 15 packages of buns. Sooooo sweet. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

We were able to feed over 250 people!!😃😃😃 We were set up in the pavilion at fairgrounds. Tyson brought his radio cooler and we we jammin to to some old school country. The Salvation Army volunteers said that this was the biggest turnout that they had seen. People were just hanging out and visiting rather than going back to their campers. One lady told me that dinner that night was a welcomed distraction. More like a vacation rather than an evacuation. Met so many sweet people. So amazed how even through such devastating times they still had such positive attitudes!!! Talk about humbling! Almost felt guilty that we had so much fun!!!!!!!

Thank you soooo much Ricky Gomez and Jennifer Smith Gomez! We could not have done it without you two!  You jumped right in with a moments notice and helped us make this happen. Our new new friends Lori, Brent and, Harvey from the Salvation Army stepped in and provided all the chips, drinks, plates, and condiments😃. These were volunteers in from Dallas and Richmond here for 5 days to lend our community a hand. 😘
