Today, the Cornwall community (and beyond) got the tragic news that we hoped to never hear. After almost two years of fighting, prayers, and treatments, our friend and neighbor, Mike Conmy, succumbed to the cancer that had gripped him.
If you’ve had the chance to visit Mike and his family over the past 21 months, you’ve witnessed the wonderful spirit of strength, appreciation, optimism, and demonstration of faith that has enlivened his journey as he and his family faced this enormous challenge. They never gave up hope, even as the treatments and the cancer took their toll, and remained loving, faithful and courageous day after day.
While Mike is thankfully removed from his earthly pain and in a better place, the journey is just beginning for Marie, and her four young children, Tommy, Danny, Charlie and Lily. In addition to unbearable sadness, the reality is that they will need help now to continue to pay not only their accumulated medical bills and funeral expenses, but also household expenses and future education expenses.
Please help the Conmy family continue to stay strong and steady while they go through this tragic loss. As a family, they have gone through so much this year and worrying about how they can continue to live as normally as possible should be last of the list of things to worry about. Meal-planning, babysitting, housekeeping, yard maintenance and other time-consuming physical activities will be increasingly difficult for the Conmys in the upcoming months. Friends and family have rallied to help with the tasks above, along with the kids and house, to try to maintain as much normalcy as possible during holiday season. Overwhelmingly, people near and far have asked "how can I help now" Friends have set up a Facebook group page ( Team Conmy ) that now numbers over 430.
Your donations now go to helping a very loving and deserving family. Any amount you can give will help move us closer to our goal to alleviate the one stress that is so difficult for couples and families: financial security.
Thank you all, and may our collective love, prayers and generosity be a blessing on Mike and Marie's family and all our families at this difficult time.
