I am standing on the Oklahoma-Arkansas line in Fort Smith, Arkansas, overlooking the Arkansas River. From here, I plan to run across the state of Arkansas to the Mississippi River, in Memphis, Tennessee. I will carry our Flag, my Flag, your Flag, the Flag of the United States of America, in honor of every individual who has worn the uniform, of any branch of our military, or any branch of our law enforcement agencies, or any first responder, and has given their life in the line of duty.
It will be my high privilege and honor to carry this flag, with a grateful heart for their service and their sacrifice. Asian, Latino, Native American, Black, or White, we all bleed the same. Let's run this race called LIFE together. Let's stand for one another. If we're going to fight, let's fight for each other. If we're going to shout, let love be our cry.
I will complete my run across the state at West Memphis, Arkansas, sometime on Friday, November 10. Early Saturday morning, November 11, Veterans Day, I will make my way to the pedestrian river bridge, on the west side of the Mississippi River. At 10:00 AM, in honor of our nations' Veterans, those east of the Mississippi, and those west of the Mississippi, I will carry the Flag across the river bridge, to the Tennessee side, and then bring it back to Arkansas.
My objective is to raise money for "Flags 4 Fallen" a non-profit organization that recruits runners all across the country to carry flags in local races in honor of our fallen heroes. Earlier this year, we had four runners, who carried flags, in a race that our running club sponsored. With a portion of the proceeds from our race we were able to purchase additional flags, so that other runners across the country were able to do the same.
Proceeds will be used to provide additional flags for 'Flags 4 Fallen', and to help Cross Country Athletes carry flags across finish lines in all 50 states next year honoring the families of our fallen heroes, from each branch of our military, every law enforcement agency, and our first responder organizations.
