The Story

Almost the entire island of Puerto Rico, more than 3 million people, are without electricity.  Local support agencies are not adept to deal with this.  We are fortunate at Coqui del Mar Guest House in San Juan, Puerto Rico as we sustained minimal damage and we have a generator for electricity.  We would like to raise funds to provide hand crank charging units and solar charging units for all those needing a bit of electricity.  To communicate to loved ones.  For emergency personnel needing info to get to where they need to be.  One per family.  Your donation will help.  And 100% of your donation will go to the people in need.  I am a retired Coast Guard officer and this is a way to directly help those in need.  We will be handing these out with police escorts in the San Juan area.  Pictures of your results coming soon.

THANK YOU ALL!   We had a beautiful Sunday visiting some residents of Ciales.  They were so happy to see us and to receive some help (apparently we are the first to visit so far)  My friend from Best Sights, Anthony Gonzalez, brought two satellite phones and connected people to family members - the first time they had spoken since Hurricane Maria.  Little by little...Puerto Rico will rise again.

We will be visiting Maria Lopez on Tuesday, a resident of Isabela that lost her house completely.

Thank you all for your generous donations.  Please share the link.  Things in Puerto Rico will get worse before they get better unfortunately...I am in constant contact with our staff in Ocean Park...No one has electricity.  Those with generators cannot get gas.  City water has been off for 2 days.  Grocery stores have been looted and are empty.  Streets are flooded and not passable.  We are rationing water and our generator on our small Ocean Park island.   We will be adjusting supplies purchased and distributed with feedback from our on site crew.  I will keep you informed as to how your money is helping those in need.  More than 3 million people in need.
