Guatemala is a country rich with natural beauty and a fascinating Mayan history.
But tucked in between its breathtaking mountains lie hundreds of villages made up of families living in poverty. Families with little to no medical access, education, and food. Families with no help for their needs and no hope for their future.
Mission Parkside is passionate about serving those in need both locally and globally, and we feel called to take the next step in doing so by adopting a Guatemalan village.
El Chico is made up of 600 people, including 85 families and 375 children. Like many of the rural villages in their country, the little precious money generated through their small farms of coffee and corn make it hard or impossible to break from the poverty cycle.
Over the next several years, we will be coming alongside the American ministry World Help and its Guatemalan partner Hope of Life to help meet El Chico’s physical needs - while also sharing the love of Jesus.
Our first project gets under way next month. On this trip we hope to provide them a public bathroom.
Our future projects include repairing their school building and adding additional classrooms, repairing and expanding their church building, building a playground for the children, and providing the village with a source of clean water.
But in order to accomplish all this we need your help! These goals are only achievable through teamwork, and we’d love for each one of you to play a role in changing the lives of 600 people forever.
The most immediate way you can be involved is through a financial contribution. It will cost $5,700 to provide a public bathroom for these families.
If you want to be a part of this project and change the well-being of these families, would you consider donating toward this project. Every dollar donated gives more hope for the children of El Chico to have a better and brighter future.
