The Story

The Paulsons have helped so many in the childhood cancer world over the past 4+ years. Now it is our turn to help them.
At just 16 years old, on January 17, 2012, the lovely Emma Rose was diagnosed with Very High Risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). After heroically enduring 2½ years of intense chemotherapy, her family was confident that she was completely and forever cured. Emma completed treatment, graduated high school and began her studies as a nursing student at her beloved St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, IN. She was successfully pursing her dream to become a pediatric oncology nurse, and to hopefully one day work alongside the nurses who saved her life at Children’s Hospital of WI’s MACC Fund.Just 10 months into treatment, Emma established Emma Rose – A Patient Helping Patients as a way to pay it forward to other little ones fighting cancer. For the past 4+ years, Emma has been collecting gifts from people all across the country. Much to the delight of all the patients and nurses, Emma bundles the thoughtful goodies up, beautifully packages them and delivers 50-70 of these comfort gift packages to her fellow patients every month.

Emma Rose has brought so much love, joy, and support to hundreds of young cancer fighters and their families over the years.  Now Emma and her family need YOUR support. This past Christmastime, they were devastated to learn, just days before the “magic” 5 years, that Emma’s cancer had returned. Emma has now begun her 2nd fight against Leukemia. This time, she will have 2+ years of an even more rigorous chemo regiment. Because the treatment protocol is so lengthy and expensive, we are asking for financial donations and heartfelt prayers to help ease the burden Emma Rose and her family now face.  The family is sincerely grateful for your generosity.

To send a check to the family, please make it out to Emma Rose Benefit Fund and mail to Emma Rose, PO Box 485, Thiensville, WI, 53092

Day +216

My two main goals of 2018 are to FINALLY finish sophomore year of college & to have a platelet count of 100. This morning I got an email from my college with some potentially exciting news about classes for next semester. Then I went to clinic and was disappointed by my counts. Platelets dropped from 34 to 28.

WBC 2.6

Hemoglobin 10.2

Platelets 28

My NP said they aren’t concerned, but want to check labs again next week. I’m hoping they make a big jump so I can be closer to my goal of 100 by the end of 2018. They decided to hold off on my vaccine I was supposed to get today in case my vaccine 2 weeks ago was the cause of the low platelets. I also received my monthly pentamidine treatment to prevent pneumonia.

Please pray for everything to work out with school & especially for a boost in platelets next week! If you could also keep Angel, Jace, and a lady who is very special to our family in your prayers, they could all use it too as they’ve received some disappointing news lately.

Hope everyone is having a great start to 2018! Ready to turn the page on 2017 and looking forward to a poppin 2018!
