The Story

Ellie was shockingly diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a solid tumor cancer, at just 10 months old and started aggressive treatment at the age of 4.

The Shoups transferred care from Minnesota, to Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York. Ellie, now 6 years old, is thriving under the direction of her medical team in New York.  Within the past year, the Shoup Family has traveled to New York more than 20 times. If you know the Shoup's, you know they are a very independent, hard-working family. While fortunate to have with great insurance, all travel costs are the responsibility of the Shoups.

Full of Gratitude

Each trip to New York costs roughly $2,000 for mom and Ellie. And that is JUST for travel costs (airfare, staying at the Ronald McDonald House, food, ride from the airport, activities. NOTHING is cheap in New York.)

We are extremely grateful for all the help we've received along the way.  We plan to pay it forward whenever we have the opportunity to do so! Thank you for all the donations to date.

Hi Team Ellie!

We are writing to share with you that since we've started our "Team Ellie" campaign, we've raised over $30,000! Each and every one of you were a part of that success. We also wanted to share that it has been over a year, and we have traveled to New York, more than 15 times. Yes, you read that correctly. Our next trip is planned for the beginning of November. We are hoping to reach our goal of $50,000 by Christmas.

Did you know, to date we've paid $16,000 in out of pocket medical expenses? And another $8,000 once January 2017 rolls around?
Did you know, a round-trip ride from the LaGuardia airport in New York to the Ronald McDonald House, costs $150?
You probably didn't know, it costs us $35 a night to stay at the Ronald McDonald House. Not even that is free.
2 airline tickets, plus baggage, runs us on average of $800. Double that to $1,600 if our entire family goes.
And then there's food, things to do, little surprises for Ellie to keep her enthused and energized,
And we haven't even mentioned yet, things like essential oils, supplements, and clean eating while we're home.

The cost of this all is overwhelming, to say the least. We're a well-educated, hard-working family, but as you can see, traveling to New York is SO EXPENSIVE.

Please consider helping us reach our goal of$50,000 by Christmas. Share our story with others. Not only do we *want* to reach our goal, we *need* to consider raising money. Thank you for your love and generous support.

Love, The Shoups
