On Tuesday, January 15, Ellen's six-year-old rescue dog, Duffy, woke up unable to walk and in horrible pain. She rushed him to the vet who sent her to a specialist immediately.
The Specialist ordered an MRI which revealed one ruptured disc and two compromised discs. Because Duffy is still young and has so much heart and love in him, putting him down is not an option. He’s a dearly loved member of the family. He was rushed into surgery. That MRI and surgery cost nearly $7,000. Aftercare is expensive too.
This is a big financial hardship and emergency for Ellen who has tirelessly rescued and fostered many dogs and cats. Please help Duffy have the funds to receive all the care he needs, including the therapeutic rehab he'll need the next few months to learn how to walk again Every little bit helps. Thank you so much.
Well we are now 2 1/2 weeks into this , and last weekend, Duffy's recovery went backwards. This continued throughout the week until Friday, when a new MRI discovered new damage. Duffy underwent surgery, again, to find the original ruptured disc, ruptured on the other side, blowing that disc apart completely and another disc was determined unstable as well. The 1st disc was fused and 2 plates have been place beneath his vertebra. It was an extensive surgery, taking about 3 hours. His spinal cord appears clean with no damage. That is amazing good news. His spirit is amazing, along with his will to go forward..with proper rehab he'll be enjoying his long walks again in the spring.. Thank you all for helping Ellen and Duffy this stressful time.
