Dwayne Kelly, the kind-hearted and talented pianist at the Downtown Hotel in Dawson City, Yukon, lost everything in a house-fire earlier this week (CBC). He and his six dogs escaped unharmed, however he is now relying on the community to help him get back on his feet.
All funds from this fundraiser will go directly to Dwayne to help him get through the winter and recover from this unfortunate event. Cash can also be dropped off at the front desk of the Downtown Hotel.
He is needing clothing (small/medium shirts, 28/28 pants), socks/underwear, dog food, lumber for the wall-tent that was donated to him, and pretty much everything else, which can be dropped off at the hotel as well (or mailed to P.O Box 780). He has mentioned that an acoustic guitar or a violin would be helpful, and gift cards to the local grocery stores would go a long way too.
He has entertained countless tourists and locals alike, and filled the Downtown Hotel with ragtime tunes for many years. The support is deeply appreciated, from those in the community and from those abroad.
