My grandmother owns her own home, but the taxes on her property were bought in an auction in October 2016 – and we've only just found out. The company that bought the property is demanding repayment in full, plus lawyer's fees and a handful of other charges, before October 17th, 2017. If it is not paid in full, they will claim our property and sell off our house.
The total amount right now is $5,430. But there is an interest that is charged daily, meaning that every day this goes unpaid, the cost rises.
But my grandmother is on a fixed income and is disabled. On top of that, she's been in and out of the hospital for a month now – first having to be admitted for an emergency surgery when the stents in her legs collapsed and cut off blood flow, then again when she had a heart attack two weeks later after having only been released for three days.
She cannot pay this off on her own. Our family is of little help; my uncle is an alcoholic that hasn't been able to hold a job in years, and my mother has all but disowned us. There's nowhere else for my grandmother and me to turn.
Please, I'm asking for a total of $6,000 – this will cover any interest that might accrue between now and payment, plus a 'cushion' in the event of other fees we were not made aware of. Whatever is left over will go towards paying my grandmother?#39;s substantial medical bills.
Please consider giving a little to help my grandmother. It would mean the world to me, as well as a home for my Nana.
