The Story

I am honored to provide integrative humanitarian acupuncture services to those communities in need as a consultant, licensed acupuncturist, Doctor of Oriental Medicine, and Wilderness First Responder. My deployments and experience have been with natural disasters, wildfires, floods, shootings, and other traumatic events impacting communities domestically and internationally.  As the nature of the events are sudden and unexpected, many times, immediate response needed, any funds raised go to cover expenses, such as travel and supplies.  In addition, we provide educational programs, capacity building and sustainable global health, specialized trainings, acupuncture research, and programs specific to veterans and emergency responders dealing with traumatic stress, PTSD, and suicide.

More about me:

I am a licensed and board certified Acupuncturist in Colorado, a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture Physician in the state of Florida.  I am a certified WMAI Wilderness First Responder (emergency medicine) and the Assistant Unit Coordinator and Training Specialist for the Colorado Acupuncture Medical Reserve Corp (CAMRC), the nation’s first acupuncture based federally approved MRC responding to disasters and trauma recovery.  I am a national and international speaker and educator on Humanitarian and Global Health Acupuncture, Disaster and Critical Incident Response, Disaster Mental Health and Trauma Recovery. An NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), qigong instructor, and a registered yoga instructor and teacher trainer (E-RYT).  NCCAOM continuing education provider.

Recently returned (12/01/2017) from Ukwala, Kenya, volunteering with the Matibabu Foundation and Global Outreach Doctors.  We had an amazing time treating in the rural hospitals and providing educational services for local medical practitioners.  As many of you know, this is a long-term project of integrative medicine and capacity building in western Kenya.  Our goal is taking teams 2-4 times per year, to provide services and continued education in the region.  We truly thank you for all your support.

We (CAMRC and Humanitarian Acu) had an amazing time training local Texan Acupuncturists in Austin for Acupuncture in the Medical Reserve Corps, working in the Emergency Response Network.  We continue to assist as the develop their own statewide Acupuncture MRC and will be planning additional trainings in the coming year.

There has been an out pouring of requests for treatments from Standing Rock, Hurrincane Matthew, Ship Rock, NM, Regional Wildfires and Shooting Incidents.   We have also recieved requests from Haiti, Jordan, Mexico, and Central America.

As a volunteer, my ability to travel and provide services is a direct result of your gifts.  I am truly thankful for all the support and love that each and everyone of you has provided.  No gift is too small or too large, and as you know they are gifts that keep on giving!  Spread the word and keep those gifts providing to those in need.

**First Responder Research update in the next few months!
