The Story

Dogs at Dog Valley Rescue Shelter were poisoned last night (29th September) using meat (laced) covered in poison. This is the second act of violence against our shelter in the last few days. One of our Mascots, Basil was shot dead on Sunday. The event last night cost the life of our dog Lassie. The quick action of our caretaker and the immediate response of our vet, Polys Pittas, who drove in the middle of the night to our remote shelter, some of poisoned dogs survived and overcome the effects; Elton, Flossy, Max and Joy however, Nelson, Dinky and Charlie are fighting for their lives at the vet's clinic. Thank you to our volunteers for rushing to the scene to help. The police has taken a report, samples and our beautiful Lassie for biopsy. Please share this post to bring awareness to the incident and put pressure on authorities to solve the crime. We also kindly ask for donations to help with the medical cost for the recovery of our dogs, they are the only victims of cruel monstrosity. In this pathetic country, unkind world they are only looking for a loving home and a gentle hand to caress them. If you prefer you may also donate directly at our vet, Polys Pitta in Mesa Geitonia 25-727475

Dear supporters,

This is to update you that I have spend the remaining of the funds raised to treat our puppies for parvovirus. Unfortunately October is an outbreak season and as a crowded shelter with constantly incoming puppies we got a parvo outbreak. I will post the receipt in the photos. If you wish to donate to help us move our shelter to a safer location, where we will not be in danger of poisoning or flooding, join our world wide appeal here www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-relocate-over-300-dogs-to-a-safer-place. Thank you again for your support...

The first 600 euro have been spend today to pay for the cost of medicating our poisoned dogs, for purchasing medication to have in our first aid box in case of another emergency and to purchase 100 deworming tablets for adults, since we don't have any left at the shelter. The receipt is attached alongside a photo of the first aid medication and tablets. The other 322 will be spend next week to cover other medical costs. I will post the receipts as well. Thank you for making this possible.

Dear supporters, Thank you. We are overwhelmed by the public responce and assistance offered. We are grateful for your messages of support and solidarity. In these dark moments faced by the shelter crew and volunteers, you have managed to help keep us strong. We all do it for the love, for the love we receive every day from our dogs, for the unfortunate doggies to get a chance for a better life, a lo...ving home, for some tender love and care. We battle each day for a brighter future. Thank you for being at our side. All the money received will be spend to cover the medical care of our poisoned dogs and prepare a bigger emergency kit at the shelter. Any remaining money will be used in medical care for other sick dogs. Our treasurer will post all receipts. Even the smallest donation is an embrace of courage towards the fighters of Dog Valley Rescue. We are honored by your support and we will keep fighting to rehome and rescue stray dogs day after day.
