The Story

On February 5th 2015, a very close family relative Dmitry Teslenko was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (a cancer that starts in blood stem cells). At the age of 26 this was a shock to us to say the least. With the help of selfless and kind-hearted people Dmitry was able to receive 5 cycles of chemotherapy, which lead to the long awaited remission period. We had high hopes that the worst was behind us, as blood test results did not show signs of cancer cells.

Unfortunately, on December 17th, 2015 Dmitry was diagnosed with an early relapse. Here is the originals of his medical records in Ukrainian and translation: Dmitry Teslenko's Hospitalization Records

Right now, Dmitry is back in the hospital and doing his first cycle of high doze chemotherapy after his December 2015 relapse and his doctors give prognosis that he’ll go into remission within a month. As soon as he achieves remission Dmitry's life can only be saved by an emergency bone marrow transplant. Luckily, for this emergency procedure an ideal candidate has already been selected, who is Dmitry's twin brother Eugene Teslenko.

Doctors in hematology department in Cherkasy Regional Oncology Centre recommended us a few medical clinics and hospitals in Germany and Israel where the cost of preparations, transplantation and rehabilitation is between $200,000 USD and $400,000 USD depending on the location and length of recovery period. This is an incredible amount of money and at the moment we are in the process of finding a clinic with a cheaper treatment costs. A few requests have been sent to Turkish medical centres already and we will keep you posted about the costs when they get back to us.

This amount of money is impossible for us to gather and this is why we are reaching out to the kindness in your hearts to help raise these funds and save Dmitry's life. No matter how big or small, every contribution, even a single dollar will make a tremendous difference.

I would like to explain the reason why this amount of funds is impossible to obtain without your help. Dmitry was born and raised in the small town of Shpola, Ukraine. While Dmitry was studying in university, his mother tragically died of cancer. A short few months later his father also passed away, leaving him with only two brothers, Oleg and Eugene. Without parents Dmitry is left with no family in a financial position to help with the vast medical expenses.

The government of Ukraine also does not help fund bone marrow transplant procedures and at this point in time there are no hospitals or medical centers in Ukraine that are able the offer this surgery. Our only hope is to perform the procedure in a handful of countries that offer this surgery in Eastern Europe.

ALL of the money raised will go directly into a designated recovery fund, and only for Dmitry Teslenko’s surgery and rehabilitation.

In the fortunate event where we don’t need all of the money raised OR we find a cheaper treatment that will be successful, we will donate 100% of the remaining funds to the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society (please see the link below http://www.lls.org) and will post donation records.

We are eternally grateful for any and all help. We need to raise the money in the next 60 days so Dmitry can immediately begin his treatment.

Dmitry is now 27; he is an incredibly talented 3D designer, who just started his promising career. He is a generous and kind-hearted person with a fantastic sense of humour. His family and friends describe him as a ray of light who keeps shining and inspiring people around him even during this difficult time.

On behalf of Dmitry and my family, we ask for your help! Any donation you can make to help pay for this lifesaving procedure will be greatly appreciated!!!

For the small price of a coffee it would only take 70,000 people to save the life of a gifted young man.

Thank you for your time, consideration and donations!

You are saving the life of a truly wonderful guy!

Sincerely,

Anastasiia Borovyk & Ievgen Bobrov

Hello to all our family, friends and generous supporters!

As I mentioned before, Dmitry is on high doze chemotherapy in hospital now and for the last few days symptoms were starting to appear again: fever, joint/bone aches, night sweats, exhaustion, etc.  Dmitriy had very low leucocyte level (approx. 0.1) but today it went up to 0.9.

This marks the beginning of his healing process and means his remission is on the way!!
We are all so very positive that this  will lead to the treatment  that will give Dmitriy a second chance at life!

THANK YOU so much to each and every one of you for all that you have done!

Hello our beloved supporters,

Today has been yet another huge day. We have great news! We received an invitation for Dmitry's treatment from Acibadem Atakent Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. The estimated cost of surgery and 6 weeks rehabilitation period in the hospital is $86,000 USD. This is several times less expensive than the same treatment offered in Israel or Germany.

The link below is to the documents we received from Acibadem Atakent Hospital. These documents outline the estimated cost of the treatment and rehabilitation.

Estimated Treatment Report

We are still searching for more affordable clinic options in Turkey. Any information regarding reputable clinics and hospitals in Turkey would be greatly appreciated by Dmitry, his family and friends.

Thank you again everyone for keeping Dmitry in your thoughts and prayers!
