One of my oldest, closest friends is a disabled army veteran who served in numerous countries with several army units. He's been living with his wife in a very old drafty house for years. In the winter they wear cold-weather gear inside and use cold weather sleeping bags to stay warm. In the last couple years the tin roof on the house has started leaking in numerous places, and when it rains they catch the water in buckets inside. Two weeks ago the old hand-dug well that supplied their water went dry. They're now having to carry water home to bathe, cook, and wash dishes. I don't normally ask for help, and I know for certain that he never would. I'm not giving his name out of respect. However, he will accept my help, but he always tries to give me what cash he has in his pocket for it, which I always refuse. I want to help him get a well drilled so they can have running water in their home again. If this does well enough I also want to help him find a mobile home to set up on his land so that they have a warm, dry place to live. I will donate all of the time and labor necessary to make this happen, I just don't have the funds. Additionally, I will keep detailed pictures, and cost and expenditure sheets so that anybody that donates can see exactly where the money is going. Many, Many Thanks. Much Love.
