On the morning of December 1st, 2016, a house fire in the town of Elbridge, NY devastated the lives of the founders of Maxman Reptile Rescue. Their home and reptile rescue was completely destroyed, nearly all the indoor animals died and Scott Dombroski, founder Diana's husband, was hospitalized in critical condition after he was overcome while trying to save the animals. Sadly, he died of his injuries the next day.
For all those who work in rescue and/or have multiple animals in our homes, this is probably our very worst nightmare. Diana and Scott have helped out so many other rescues, and people in general... too many times to count. Rarely has there been a time that if a friend, or even a stranger, asked for help, would Diana and Scott turn them down. They have done transports, fostered dogs, networked animals, taken in hospice dogs for several other dog rescues. They have transported and fostered farm animals for private owners, as well as other rescues. They have donated their time and reptile education programs at benefits for other families in need - going so far as to still cover at a benefit to which she had committed a week after Scott's memorial - using friends' animals and MaxMan crew. Diana, in all of her pain and loss, continues to try to help others - and has even taken in several (small)"urgent needs" animals, even tho she has no home herself.
Now she and her family need our help. They have lost everything, the house is a total loss; the reptiles are gone; the rescue and its supplies are gone; and one of the most important parts of Diana's life, Scott, her partner, husband and truly her "other half" is gone.
ALL of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to Diana for whatever she needs to rebuild her home and life. Please give whatever you can. No amount is too small.
