Raising funds to present "Black Queer Magic" at the 16th Philadelphia Trans Health Conference, Sep 7-9. My voice, and the voices of those who've entrusted me with their stories, and that of the communities I will be representing (Black, trans, Haitian, queer, disabled, neurodivergent, self-taught children, dropouts, fat, dark skinned) deserve to be heard in that space.
Black Queer Magic shares the history and resistance wrapped up in finding our identity as queer people, as members of the African diaspora, and writing ourselves into spirituality and faith practices. Magic as resistance, magic as liberation, and, most of all, magic as joy and community building. Magic as historical preservation and cultural renaissance. Magic as medicine for the soul and healing for the body.
