On the morning of Thursday April 12th 2018 after dropping her twin 9 year old children off at school - our dear friend Dayle Louwrens went for her daily morning run - same route she has taken every morning for the past 3 years. That morning took a different turn - Dayle was struck down by a car in the early morning hours less than a mile into her daily run. Same route, same time she took every morning.
Dayle came to the USA from South Africa working in the yachting industry - found America to be the place she loved to raise her two beautiful children. Not easy being a single mom but she loved life more than most people I have ever met. To spend time with Dayle meant you were going to laugh - ALOT!
Dayle is in ICU and has swelling on the brain. Her doctors are optimistic but her recovery is unknown. Minimum would be a year of intense rehabilitation but there is no way of knowing how complicated the injury to her brain is until the swelling goes down and she wakes up.
Dayle was not only one of MY best friends but to countless others she touched lives and always in a positive way. She is a daughter, a mother, a friend, a colleague. She is gregarious, generous, hilarious - her laughter rings in my ears as I type this.
We will all be there for the daily needs for Dayle during this time and forever more but financially she will need much more than we can give to survive. For her children to have a life outside of 4 walls.
If you could help us fight for Dayle - any donation is greatly appreciated.
A rousing game of Cards Against Humanity is waiting for you to come home Dayle. We miss you.
