Hi everyone my name is David. On October 18, 2016 my family's life changed forever when my baby sister went to Heaven. The last few months have been crazy for us, but we don't want her legacy to die!
For the last few months I have been working on some plans to start a fund that would help my family plant a church in Tijuana in honor of my sister. Hannah was born in Mexico and had a love for the people of Mexico. My mom and dad are missionaries there (you can check out his blog at diasolifeontheborder.org) and works with a church network called Ministerios Transformación. They have already planted 30 churches and have a goal of planting at least 50 churches. My parents have helped plant 5 of them. Additionally, training many of the pastor's in the church network.
The second part of this fund will be to start a scholarship fund for students who are planning on going into ministry. Hannah was planning on attending my alma mater San Diego Christian. I plan to start a memorial scholarship in her name at the school that will bless incoming students that were missionary kids like Hannah or planning on going into ministry.
I have already spoke with the college and a few people that do non profit work. They’ve suggested that I start a donor advised fund that will manage the money in investments which I can appropriate in grants wherever needed. This allows me to continually fund this with any donations I receive as well as a minimum 5% of my personal yearly income I plan to invest over my life. I pray that this will eventually grow into a non profit that will outlive me and my family.
The money raised will be spread accordingly:
21,000 for the church plant
9,000 for set up and training
20,000 and any additional raised money
