Update: May 9, 2017
Last week Darlene had a outpatient visit to the Oncology/Hemotology clinic where she was given a fast push of chemo medicine VinCRIStine, two units of blood (each unit is two hours long) and then we were able to go home and enjoy a barbaque dinner that her dad prepared, hangout by the pool, watch smurfs at the movies and sleep in our own beds. This was the Best day we spent as a family in awhile...
In these past ten weeks Darlene has had to adjust to the weekly treatments of chemo, malnutrition of moderate degree, disease of white blood cells, blood transfusions, nausea and vomiting X100, continuous hospital stays and clinic visits, blood test, mersa screenings, difficulty walking, accepting help from other with all her daily activities and the list goes on...This is alot for any child to have to go through but when it is your own child words can not describe the pain you feel as a parent.
Phase one of Darlene's treatment is thankfully coming to an end though it is far from being over, it's going to be a huge relief to put the first twelve weeks behind us and move forward towards Darlene being cancer free.
Phase Two will begin next week. Darlene's oncologist already explained to us what is to come. Darlene will still get chemo treatments weekly, some chemo meds will be decreased and one added, also Darlene will start thirty consecutive days of proton beam radiation which was explained to be more draining on her body then chemo. Darlene will also have a number of test ran to see if her body is free from tumors. Cancer is in no way shape or form a blessing but Darlene's tumor was localized and there was no metastasis spread so that to us was a huge blessing. We pray her test come back clear again.. In Jesus Name.
Please keep Darlene and our family in prayer. We are all faced with different trails daily and I would be lying to say this has not been extremely hard on our family to get through as one. We are apart constantly and with so much to take care of we have no choice but to divide and conquer.
My prayer is that this makes our family stronger as a unit and Darlene has one amazing testimony to share.
Thank you again for all the love, support and uplifting messages, letters and cards. We are deeply touched and cant thank you enough!!! #TeamDarlene
