Since this is such a great community of people who care about Dan, he wrote a little update for you all:
My heart is overloaded with gratitude and I am completely in shock from how generous everyone in the comedy community has been. Thank you to all my fellow comedians who bucked the jaded loner stereotype and came through for me with love, donations, and putting out the word that my family was in need of support.
Being able to pay for medical expenses both partially covered and very much not covered by my insurance has made life so much more bearable for my family as I rest and recover. So far my treatment is going very well! I am lucky to be young and capable of enduring a lot of intense medication. And when I've felt pushed to the limit, I find that a surprising amount of the time I am able to see outside the situation and appreciate how many people from all the circles of my life have banded together to make me feel well again.
My wife and daughters are the gravity that binds me together. When they breathe easy, so do I. With your help they are smiling with me, and that is a wonderful gift I do not take lightly. I look forward to getting well and paying back the universe in some way. Probably with some jokes.
