The Story

This You Caring is set up to cover all expenses for food in July 2017 for 98 dogs and 8 cats that have been rescued from the streets by Dalida Kozlic. They need this to keep them safe, fed, healthy, off the streets, and away from the illegal dog catchers. The number of rescued animals is constantly changing due to finding homes for them, but the numbers grow with new cases of injured, sick or abused dogs.

**Four puppies were saved in June**

Dalida is a lawyer from Sarajevo who has been involved in protection of animals for more than 15 years and she is one of the rescuers and activists with most experience in Bosnia. Also, she was one of the lobbyists who were involved in legislating of Animal Protection and Welfare Act in Bosnia, in 2009.

Dalida investigates cases of animal abuse, as well as cases of obstructions to implement Animal Protection and Welfare Act. Her activities are focused on enforcement of the Animal Protection and Welfare Act, presenting practical legal solutions in animal welfare area, collecting of evidences, filing criminal reports, and constant lobbying that Bosnian authorities implement the Animal Protection and Welfare Act.

Dalida also acts as a liaison with international animal welfare advocates. She follows all activities of police, the prosecutor's office, and veterinary inspectors, in order to prosecute and punish people who torture and kill animals. She also participates in media debates about animal welfare.

The biggest focus of her activities is to stop illegal dog catching service in Sarajevo at the moment. All details about atrocities that happen to stray animals in Bosnia can be read on http://inmemoryofvucko.org/

More details about Dalida's legal and rescue work can be read on:

Dalida cannot keep her animals safe and fed without our assistance.

It is important to emphasise that Dalida has 49 dogs and 8 cats at her home, and 49 dogs in pensions, which rescues are included in this YouCaring. It is also necessary to emphasise that Dalida has rescues in pensions that have special veterinary care for dogs, and where costs of food are included in the price of pension.

Dalida and parents take care of 50 animals without any help at their small shelter. They are even building more kennels to take some rescues to their home at the moment.

They only raise funds to buy food for those animals. It is very difficult and stressful for them to take care of 49 dogs and 8 cats every day since they must check the situation in all pensions as well as supply pensions with the food, not to mention and that they drive all animals to veterinarians, deal with administration for animals, prepare animals for transport, take care of sick animals and try to leave a normal life at the same time.

Of course food is essential and the most important thing that must be provided for saved animals.
Dalida and her parents must buy food for animals at our shelter and one pension near our house three times a week.
Owner of pensions near Sarajevo take food in one pet shop that is placed near pensions. They must pay a bill for that food once in a week.
This means that I must have funds for food available all the time.

Food costs in July:
* 20 kg of dry food = 15.5 Euros (average meal for one dog = 500 gr - depends on size and weight)
* Food for 49 dogs and 8 cats at her home: 475 Euros
* Food for 49 dogs that are placed in pensions: 475 Euros
* PayPal fees: 50 Euros
Total: 1000 Euros

Dalida has started buying food for all her dogs in pensions, which wasn't the case until January this year. Funds for pension costs are being raised through a separate YouCaring.

If you want to send a donation directly to Dalida, her PayPal account is: [email protected]
Please just mark that your donation is "food" and confirm receipt.

If you might be willing to make a monthly donation to support Dalida's rescues please send an email to: [email protected] , and we will assist you in making the arrangements.

Please help us to assist Dalida Kozlic, one of the few people in Bosnia who is attempting to make a difference for ALL animals in Bosnia. She has been fighting for the protection of animals for over 15 years, and is instrumental in the fact that Bosnia actually has an animal welfare law.

We are actively trying to find homes for as many of her rescues as possible, and if you can help with this, please email her at [email protected] or via her Facebook Profile: Dalida Kozlic

You can adjust the fee given to YouCaring to zero, just click on the "suggested amount', find the drop down arrow, click on **other**; then delete the pre-filled amount by backspacing, and type "0". When I save an animal, I promise her that will be fed and safe forever. My worst nightmare is when I worry about buying food... Please donate for food. I have promised them that they won't be hungry again...
Living in the fear... I have always been too serious for my age but I have never felt such need to express my worries and feelings as in the recent period of time. I think a lot about rescuing and everything we, rescuers, do. I have learnt that animals in need and rescues have one main thing in common. That thing is FEAR. Stray animals have fear of being hungry, thirsty, injured, haunted, tortured and killed. They live in constant fear. Stray animals are exposed to unimaginable suffer. They can't find food or water, they are often sick, they can't get help they need, they don't have a safe place to hide from the bad weather, they don't have a safe place to sleep and they are chased by dog catchers and killers. Rescuers also live in constant fear. We all accept responsibility for lives of animals. We are faced with suffer every day, but also we fight with fear. When we save an animal we are under huge pressure to provide her everything she needs. After a nice place has been found, new fears start to show. First of all we are worried about the health condition of the saved animal, then our worry is to provide food for the animal. Since every rescuer has a lot saved animals, we live in constant fear of diseases, injuries, phone calls from owners of pensions, loosing places for saved animals because of money, veterinary bills.. we are under constant pressure to buy food, to find homes, to help other animals, to pay costs, to provide better care for animals, to find a good vet.. we are dealing with corrupted and stupid veterinary inspectors.. our lives are the way from one to another stress, but it is worth every saved life. We make the difference, we are the voice of voiceless. We have the best reasons to win the fear and those reasons are our rescued animals and animals that still need us. We save them from their fears and accept living in the fear to provide the best future for them.
Many people say that I am brave. Thank you for that
