Daiane is a 12 year old girl from the favelas (slums) of Brazil. At 10 years old, Daiane developed scoliosis and just two years later her ribs have started crushing her heart and lungs. Her life in the slums of Brazil offer little comfort as her body aches in the cold. Her family is unable to afford the extreme cost of saving her life as her mom is unemployed and her dad isn't present in her life. Right now she is on the list for free surgery from the public health system in Brazil, but that timeline could be upwards of seven years. That's time Daiane doesn't have.
We've started a campaign to raise money for her hospital stay, the equipment that will straighten her spine, and the follow up visits that will maintain her health. A surgeon has already offered to conduct the surgery for free, but the remaining funds she needs equal $100,000 USD.
Daiane's dreams are big and beautiful. She wants to learn English, become a professional dancer, and teach ballet and hip hop. Her joy is unending. Her dancing is contagious. And her love for others is incredible. She stole our hearts and we carry her story with us. People around the world are fighting for her life, will you join us in making her dreams a reality?
