The Story

On March 7th, Curtis suffered a heart attack while on tour on the East Coast. He was transported from Vermont to an excellent medical facility in New Hampshire. While in the care of his medical team, it was determined that he needed a quadruple bypass. Due to his medical history, Curtis was considered a high risk patient and his doctors proceeded with extra caution and care. After two weeks in the hospital in New Hampshire, Curtis is now  at home and will be starting his rehabilitation in a few weeks. His spirits are high and his positive attitude and outlook will lead him on the long road of recovery ahead.

Dear fans, Curtis needs our help with medical expenses and loss of income for the months ahead. Whether you can donate $5 or $500, every bit will be greatly appreciated! His sister will ensure that 100% of the donated funds will go directly to Curtis's medical and living expenses.
Please know that with or without a donation, Curtis appreciates all the love and prayers he has received from all of you! Now ...Let the healing begin!

Hello Friends and Neighbors

This is Curtis Salgado and I am writing you all to give an update of my health and progress so far .But first I must tell you folks out there that there is not a day that goes by that I don't think about the support and love I have received over these last few months...It can be overwhelming to have so much kindness given to you ...That saying thank you & I love you just doesn't seem enough to pay back for it would be disrespectful to all of you if I didn't come back 100% which is what I'm gonna do .. And try my hardest each night to play the best possible show I can give. .

I told someone out there in a email that ..I wish I had written the song by the Beatles , "I get by with a little help from my friends" because It seems to be my life over the last decade.

My fans and friends have once again helped me keep my head above water and survive.

I am truly blessed...I love you all so much ....No Jive.

Ok and now the progress part of my report. For the last 2 months I have been attending physical therapy at St. Vincent’s Providence hospital, three days out of every week ..and then some physical activities on the off days of the week.. At first it was the treadmill, and just light weights. But now I've graduated to the treadmill and the rowing machine and 10 pound weights ...but I'm cheating a little by not telling them please don't tell them.

I bring my iPod & listen to James Brown revolution of the mind, and get on the treadmill and walk fast for 30 minutes. Nonstop .. No problem!!!  The rowing machine is Jimmy Reed 10 minutes, And go Nonstop ... I have failed that so far..but I will get there.

There are about 14 other heart patients there with me, all for different heart related reasons, and a staff of 8 or so physical therapists. They're very attentive & know their stuff. A few times I've stayed after the work out and gone to special classes to learn information about how the heart works. It's extremely fascinating and I would suggest it to everyone, except without the heart attack.

Well That's it Friends and neighbors, I hope you all found that informative & gives you an idea of how I feel and what I'm up to .

And I can't tell you enough how honored I am that you folks even care.

Love and happiness

Curtis Ellsworth Salgado
