The Story

Connor is a fun, loving and compassionate 12 year old. He started 6th grade this year.  He was diagnosed with Convulsive Syncope back in August of 2014. Then in October 2016, he was diagnosed with P.O.T.S. Unfortunately he has only been able to spend a handful of days in school this year.  Connor LOVES school. Mainly because of his love for playing his violin and seeing his friends. He is currently doing a program through our school district. It is called "Home/hospital tutoring". He has been given 16 weeks to adjust to this new diagnoses and meds that come along with it. This is wonderful. The only problem that we have now is trying to get him back in school with his friends.  He is eager for this to happen. With his two conditions,  his brain basically doesn't get enough blood. This causes him to get bad headaches, dizzy/fainting spells and potentially seizures. All of this is random. We have no way to predict these episodes. This means Connor has to spend 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with good old, Mom (me). While I like to believe that he really enjoys his time with me, he will eventually long for some sort of independence. He would also love to be able to attend school/orchestra. This is where you all come in! Connor has been given approval through the school district, to have a service dog on campus!! (Amazing right?) The kicker is, this is a very expensive measure.  One we simple can't afford on our own.

If we are able to  raise the money, Connor will be allowed to go back to school!  He will be able to go over to his friends house without having me tag along! He may even be able to move out one day! Or possibly drive! This dog is worth every single penny. He has dreams. He wants to be a pediatric neurologist so he can help kids with problems like he has. I am not sure I can homeschool a Doctor!

If you are able to donate, even just $5.00, we would be forever grateful. Thank you for taking the time to learn about our son. Thank you for even considering this. I wish you all a blessed day!

Connor was able to attend school for two hours a day, 3 days this week.  I stay with him 100% of the time until he gets his dog.  He fainted in class on Tuesday.  I was right behind him and it hit with no warning. He flew forward so i was not able to catch him. They are training the service dog to react quickly as he faints to catch him in what ever direction he goes down. Which is amazing. It would have saved him the lump on his forehead.

I also wanted to take a moment to explain a little about the cost of the dog. We are trying to raise $30,000. Here is why-  the dog will cost us $25,000 and has to be fully funded BEFORE it can come home with Connor.  The additional $5,000 is to cover travel and lodging expenses for Connor and I to travel down to So CA for a two week paring/training period. This will pay for Connors training with the dog,  and for all expenses involved in getting him certified as a handler. The originization we are going through, recommends $5,000 to cover all of the expenses involved in the two weeks we will have to spend in So CA.

thank you all for your continued support and generosity!
