"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." So said Benjamin Franklin...and we believe his quote has never been more relevant as our country, our communities, our employees and our families try to cope with the challenges of addiction.
As a risk management company, and an organization that endeavors to cultivate community, our 200 employees are excited to partner with Compass Mark to support their mission of preventing addiction. We understand the costs of helping to prevent incidents and illness are often considerably less than the "cure" of paying the claim.
We are launching a fundraising event to elevate awareness of Compass Mark’s prevention mission, culminating in a large community educational event we are calling the ”Prevention Convention.” It is our opportunity to showcase the Compass Mark team, their incredible work, and to share the prevention message with kids and families.
So, we are reaching out to you and asking for your help.
Together, let’s raise $50,000 to support Compass Mark’s prevention mission and help our community in this time of great need.
All donations support the mission, but if you're looking for specific ways you can provide targeted initiatives, here are some suggestions.
Sponsor “Student Skills for Life” at a local post-secondary school or athletic team to educate high risk youth about the dangers of addition. Compass Mark’s Student Skills for Life program is an award-winning group educational experience that is proven to reduce substance use and improve individual decision-making skills. Your sponsorship will cover the cost of one complete, 12-session series.
Provide supplies and resources for children with incarcerated parents who are served through Compass Mark’s Family Services Advocate program. This may include journals, stuffed animals, diapers/wipes, pre-paid postcards for children to send notes to their parents, and “The Invisible String” books for parents to read, record and give to their children. Your sponsorship includes assorted supplies and resources to support local children who have a parent in prison.
LionsQuest Skill-Building Workshop is one Compass Mark’s school-based prevention programs that helps students develop critical protective factors against addiction, such as positive decision-making and communication skills. Students are awarded a stuffed “Q-Bear” to mark successful program completion and to remind them of the valuable skills learned through the course.
It's likely that each of us has a story to tell about a friend, co-worker, loved one or family member who has struggled with addiction. With your help, we can assist Compass Mark in providing additional education to reduce incidences of addiction for future generations.
