Communities United For Action (CUFA) invests in building leaders, because we know that those who are closest to the problem are the ones who also know the best solutions. CUFA fights for affordable utilities, clean air and water, and communities we can invest and thrive in. We believe our decision-makers should put people and planet first. CUFA is working to build the leadership necessary for us to make social, environmental and economic justice a reality for Hamilton County residents.
Since August of 2016, more than 6,000 Hamilton County residents have experience flooding and raw sewage backups in their basements. The Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) is legally responsible for sewer backups, but people are getting denied reimbursement for damages. CUFA is calling for an independent audit of their Sewer Backup Response Program.
CUFA is taking on decision-makers like the Hamilton County Commissioners, pushing them to fix the sewers, keep our rates affordable and help sewer backup victims.
CUFA won a commitment to a Customer Assistance Program and three years of rate freezes. We need funding to continue our campaign for justice for ratepayers, backup victims and to push decision-makers overseeing MSD to get our sewers fixed affordably, sustainably and with local labor.
CUFA understands the impact vacant houses have on the vitality of a neighborhood, and is working toward a housing court that will help people stay in their homes and hold slumlords accountable for taking care of their properties.
CUFA is pushing for a court that will pursue absentee property owners - instead of fining low-income property owners out of their homes.
Everyone deserves to live in a thriving community. Everyone deserves affordable utilities and sewers that don't spew sewage into their basements and yards.
CUFA will use your donations to build and train leaders that can win on these and more. Make your donation today and share our page with friends and family.
