Colton and his wife, Connie are some of the most sincere and sweetest people you will ever meet. Anyone that's had the chance to know them for two seconds knows that their love for life and others, flows so sweetly and generously from their hearts.
Colton and Connie are newly married. Just after their wedding in December of 2016, Colton received the news that he has a tumor on his 8th cranial nerve pressing against the brain stem.
Colton has had significant hearing loss in his left ear since high school. When it initially occurred, he was battling Mono and had also suffered a concussion in football shortly before. When he in went for evaluation, a hearing test was performed and showed 100% hearing, and an unremarkable CT scan. With no abnormal findings, there was no conclusion, only thoughts that it could be from congestion due to the mono or from the accumulation of hits in football.
Life went on and Colton’s hearing never got better, but never got worse.
In December 2016, two weeks after Colton and Connie’s wedding, and one month before they made their move to Oregon, Colton went in for another evaluation of his ear. At this appointment, a hearing test showed a 40% loss of hearing in his left ear. An MRI of the brain and ear canal was immediately scheduled.
The evening of his MRI, they received the report that a 3.1cm mass was detected on his hearing/balance nerve, pushing into his brain and brain stem on the left side. This mass was identified as an Acoustic Neuroma. At the follow up appointment, they were told that this tumor was a large tumor of its type and that it would require treatment in the very near future as opposed to monitoring. Although Acoustic Neuromas are benign tumors, life threatening complications can occur without treatment due to their placement and potential size.
Colton was able to schedule treatment with a doctor in Texas to take place on March 22nd.
We want to come along side this newly wed couple and support them through prayer and finances. With brain surgery, comes extensive medical expenses, along with travel and physical therapy expenses. Please consider helping us bless them just as they've blessed so many others!
