Colette Gruber is smart, beautiful, energetic, passionate & loving. She is also a fierce fighter. Over the past several months she has been on a journey to battle Stage IV Breast Cancer that has metastasized to various places throughout her body. On May 31, 2017 Colette returned from her 3 week intensive treatment at CHIPSA Hospital in Mexico. With the love and support of her boyfriend Anthony, family, friends and community, we raised enough money to send her to this innovative and groundbreaking Cancer Center. Colette continues her extensive treatment from CHIPSA doctors and protocol now at home. She is daily tested to stretch her faith and endurance to overcome this horrible disease. While she is undergoing treatment it has left her unable to work and she is reliant on family, friends and financial donations to allow her to continue her fight and pay for her daily living expenses.
Whether you are new to her journey, or are a long-term pillar of support, we want to thank you for your uplifting thoughts, prayers and financial gifts. Colette and her family are extremely grateful for all of your love and thoughtfulness. For a history of this journey from where it started to where we are today please see below:
On March 7th 2016, just after her 40th birthday, Colette was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma in her right breast. She had just separated from a difficult marriage. Colette was in school to become a certified surgical technician while rebuilding her life to support her 5 beautiful children, Kole, age 2, Brody, age 4, Khloé, age 6, Michael, age 12 and Alyssia, 21. Colette’s always striven to live a healthy, active lifestyle. She’s an advocate for eating healthy & exercising by motivating others to do so as well. Her positive attitude when faced with such difficult circumstances has been an inspiration to so many around her.
As soon as she was diagnosed, she & her doctor made a plan to take an aggressive treatment. On May 23rd 2016, she underwent a partial mastectomy with reconstruction and had 12 lymph nodes removed. Colette took it many steps further by striving to adopt a holistic lifestyle and continuing to eat healthy, exercise, and create awareness about Breast Cancer to those in her community. We were excited to hear the news that she was cancer free. She went on to graduate Surgical Tech school as one of the top students in her class and became employed immediately!
During the past year after her surgery she's did the best she could but the challenges and stresses of her fast-paced life working a full-time job, taking care of her children and maintaining a home were very difficult to manage. Staying on a 100% holistic diet and maintaining it are both expensive and time consuming.
In February of 2017 Colette started to experience some very excruciating pains in several areas of her body. She immediately contacted her doctor and reported her symptoms and then had to wait for insurance to approve her PET scan. In late March of 2017 she received the terrible news that she now has Stage 4 Metastatic cancer that has spread to her spine, pelvis, ribs and liver and resulted in a new mass under her armpit.
Your Chance to HelpHer Victory
Have you ever witnessed someone who’s battled with a real tragedy and said, “If I had only known, I would have helped?” Kindness and generosity are so powerful. Now’s your chance to make a miracle! Not only for Colette, but for her beautiful children. For the love of life. The fight to be cured. Together we can make a difference!
Colette has the chance to overcome this dreadful diagnosis and turn this tragedy into her victory. Even in the face of the biggest challenge of her life, she remains positive and has faith that she can and will beat this! She immediately sprung to action continuing to research the best course of treatment with her medical team. She found a unique cancer treatment center outside the US that has provided her with a very aggressive plan of treatment that has resulted in curing this very same type of cancer. The cost is high and she is not able to work. She raised enough money to cover the initial cost of treatment & her travel but still has need for her additional treatment, travel back to CHIPSA and for living expenses for her and her children.
There's very little time and I'm asking on our family’s behalf for you to share, shout, and spread the word to help her. Her goal is to have the treatment within the next 3 weeks. Anything you donate will go directly to her treatment, living expenses for her & her children, as well as the travel expenses for her to go back and forth to her treatment. Please give as if someone’s life depends on it, because it truly does! Thank you for your love, prayers and generous donations. We’ll be posting updates often!
