Welcome to Crossing Oceans for Friendship. This is a collaboration between Karen McShea, Justin Biggs, Joseph Manuel Ojeda and the musicians from the Puerto Rican reggae band Pielago, Kite4Water.org, 15knots.com, Mark E. Curry Family Foundation, Flamboyan Foundation, and the Frye Foundation. We have joined forces to bring clean drinking water to the most impacted areas on the devastated Island of Puerto Rico.
The most immediate effort is to purchase and deliver portable water filtration systems to those most impacted by the hurricane. Each system yields up to 540 gallons of clean water per day and has a life expectancy of 1 million gallons of water guaranteed!! Each system costs $50.00 plus another $10.00 for accessories such as a bucket and faucet adapter. We have already delivered over 300 filters to towns most dramatically impacted by the hurricane. This week with your help we hope to raise enough money to purchase another 2000 units of filters and buckets, we plan to provide hot meals for over 1,000 Puerto Ricans. The goal is for each municipality to have a minimum 25 or more of these systems located at community centers such as police or fire stations, schools or churches where residents can go to collect water.
To date, we have purchased:
2,000 filters and buckets
1,000 units of womens and childrens clothing
1,000 hot meals
Our shipping costs for buckets and filters to San Juan have exceeded $18,000 (not including the costs of the goods).
Please help us with a donation. And ... Help spread the word!!!
With sincere appreciation, Justin, Karen, Joseph, and team!
