November 2016: While Clancy seemed to be doing so much better after we pulled her infected teeth, as soon as the hole left by the left molar healed, the swelling and inflammation started to come back. I discussed with Dr. Hanover doing a last surgery to try and see if we can help that sinus drain and he has agreed to go back in and see if he can put in a new drain to help relieve the pressure. In spite of her pain, Clancy still wags her tail and is eating consistently everyday. She still has a good quality of life. I hope you can help me help her once again. I want schedule her surgery for November 22nd so that I can take care of her over the Thanksgiving weekend. I need to raise another $1,000 for the surgery expense.
August 2016: Clancy's rescue anniversary is this month. She has been struggling for 2 years from so many health complications. First she came in nearly starved to death, and blood work revealed heartworms, anaplasma, ehrlichia, Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. She also caught kennel cough at the shelter she was brought to and that turned into terrible pneumonia and a chronic sinus issue.
For 4 weeks she stayed at our vet in Illinois at a cost of close to $2,000 and their only advise when they couldn't help her was to put her to sleep. So for the past 19 months I have done my best to keep Clancy's quality of life good. She is a happy girl, wags her tail all the time but last week a scary swelling started about her eye. The fluid that constantly drains from her sinus has pushed through her sinus cavity. We also found a very bad tooth that could be causing the some of the inflammation.
Doing the slow kill heartworm treatment has been the best treatment plan and she is now negative for that issue at least. A dental and tooth removal is planned for August 11th and we are hopeful that taking the bad tooth out, the sinus issue will improve-- only time will tell. Surgery is risky but I have to do something to help her quality of life. Clancy could be 10 now and she could have many more years ahead of her.
Please contribute what you can-- I have 4 days to raise the $$. Thank you, Lisa
