The Story

My name is Kevin and I'm raising money for my friend Chris Miller.  We all face challenges in life, but Chris has had a lot on his plate since day one.  He was born with an RH factor in his blood and went several moments without oxygen to his brain when he was first born.  Chris is now 44, lives on his own and receives disability income, but he needs to work part-time to make ends meet.

Chris lived with his parents in Leominster, MA, until they passed away (his mother in 2006 and his father in 2011) and unfortunately the family home was foreclosed.  Chris has held up ok in the face of this loss and stress.  He still gives back where he can, volunteering at his church in Leominster and volunteering for WQPH 89.3 FM, among other activities in support of his local community.

Chris found a good job match and for the last several years has driven school transportation vehicles (minivans with the "school bus" signs on the roof). This part-time income is needed to pay bills.

Just two and a half weeks ago, Chris dented the quarter panel on his work vehicle when pulling into his driveway (no injuries thankfully).  He followed procedure and filled out an accident report.  His employer told him not to report to work until further notification.  Well, two weeks on and no information.  Chris needs help paying bills and repairing his personal car.  He was also paying off some credit card bills that piled up during a previous period of unemployment.  Your contributions will help Chris with bills during this uncertain time of employment and repair his car so he can drive to his sister's house for Thanksgiving.

car repairs - estimate $500
rent, bills, food - four weeks $1000
credit card - $300

Thank you for your kindness and generosity helping a neighbor in need.

Fundraiser Updates

Thanks to all who have donated.  Chris just had his car fixed and I can hear the relief and happiness in his voice.

Update on Chris' job: his employer told him that they will not fix that vehicle now and, given that they do not have an extra vehicle, he should look for other employment.  Not sure how long this process will take, but Chris is applying to some part-time positions.  Hopefully he will get some good news soon.

Having the car fixed will help him to get to interviews, as well as to his sister's house for Thanksgiving.

Thanks again for helping him to bridge this time!
