The Story

On the morning of February 20th, my brother Chris was visciously attacked by 3 people during a strong arm robbery. He was able to escape and ran a mile where a Good Samaritan notified emergency services on his behalf. Upon our arrival to ICU we found him unrecognizable due to the extent of his injuries. We are thanking God he is alive and healing, but are deeply saddened and broken inside at the thought that someone could do this to such a beautiful, caring and compassionate  person.

As many of you know, Chris is a computer gaming engineer as well as a professional juggler. Due to his injuries, he is currently unable to do what he loves to do the most.

As a juggler, he has brought joy to thousands of people. He has won countless juggling contests and often travels to participate in events (he was scheduled to leave this weekend for one in Texas). He's performed at events as small as backyard birthday parties up to large scale festivities such as California Great America's Halloween Haunt. If you're lucky, you can catch him practicing at a local park or school. One can't pass by him without being awe struck or hearing "man, that is so awesome!". Needless to say, juggling is a big part of who Chris is.

When he's not doing events, he's teaching others the art of diabolo spinning, working on his own line of products or engineering... something!

Out of all the people in this world, our Chris is the least deserving of this type of heinous act.

As you can imagine, medical expenses are quickly adding up. He had surgery to his shoulder, and will require facial reconstructive surgery in a few weeks. I am trying to ease the financial burden this situation is weighing on my brother. He was in the middle of moving, and now has to worry about extensive medical bills on top of it. He was uninsured at the time of the incident.

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

On behalf of my brother, parents and younger sister I would like to thank each and every one of you for your kind words, heartfelt prayers and thoughts as well as your generous donations. Your support has been crucial in this healing process for my brother and family.

Chris was able to pay for and undergo shoulder and facial reconstructive surgery and is now able to pay for many of his medical bills and physical therapy. You all have taken a tremendous amount of stress and worry off of his shoulders, so that he can instead focus on healing of mind, body and soul. Our family is eternally grateful.

We have been brought to tears at the site of so many communities coming together to show love and support for our Chris; from our law enforcement family (ranging from the DA's office, Public and Alternate Defender's offices and the Probation family) to the juggling/performing arts community and numerous church/faith based communities in addition to support of friends and family, we were often left speechless.

Although we will never forget the night this event has changed our lives and most importantly has changed Chris's life, we are proud to say his spirit has not been broken and he is proving to be a Phoenix rising from the ashes. His road to recovery is long but we are sure he will juggle his way down it a bigger and better person than before.

Thank you all!

With love,

Update from Chris:

Next update in the healing process. I had facial surgery on Tuesday to fix all the fractures in my face. The surgery itself took only a few hours and I was able to return home around the evening. From what I heard around me since then, it was a success. As they made the incisions from the corners of my eyes I could not see for about a day after. My eyes were fused shut with the blood and are still slowly bleeding. I've gotten the bleeding mostly under control and out of both eyes. Sleeping has been hard and sometimes painful. I want to thank everyone that donated to help make the surgery possible. Thank you to my family and lals for being here personally helping me as I recover. Tomorrow I have a consultation for my shoulder and will know more about the next surgery regarding that.
