Chennai received its highest rainfall recorded in the last 100 years. Most parts of the city are heavily flooded, leaving many residents without access to food and electricity. The airport has been shut down temporarily and many of the highways and roads have been damaged - limiting access to and from the city. High levels of water logging have been reported in many localities with water entering homes and offices. 188 deaths have been reported as of December 2nd 2015.
Chennai floods have paralyzed the city and impacted thousands of people. Your support will help provide much needed food, medicines and other essential supplies immediately.
Money collected will be channelized to Sewa International USA towards the Sewa Bharathi's Chennai flood relief account and Roshnipriya charitable trust in India. Sewa Bharathi already has the volunteers in the ground assisting people in transporting them to safer places, serving food, and providing medicines and other essential supplies.
Roshnipriya charitable trust is managed by IT volunteers whom we have direct contact to. Money from this trust will be used by the IT volunteers to buy medicines, blankets, school items, women needs and medicines. The volunteers also deliver items donated by other generous donors. They have several individual teams in ground to deliver. One of our member is part of this command center and will have complete transparency on the money being spent. They take care of both Chennai and Cuddalore. Your contributions will make an impact immediately.
