The Story

Thanks to generous donors Chanel received her life saving Stem cell Transplant January 3rd, 2017. To follow her progress visit facebook.com/thetubefedwife

Transplant Details:
Chanel will be receiving an autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago Illinois as part of a clinical trial. By the Grace of God the majority of her transplant will be covered by medical insurance. Chanel and her family however, will still have the massive burden of cost on their shoulders for out of pocket expenses that accrue during the transplant such as: travel, lodging, co-pays, deductibles, prescriptions, transportation, etc. Phase One of her transplant will begin November 25th. The journey from beginning to end will be about two months, made up of two inpatient stays, and a a few days of outpatient testing. Following the transplant Chanel will be part of a 5 year study, needing to visit Chicago for testing 6 months post transplant, and every year after that for the duration of the clinical trial. Chanel will be accompanied by her Mother for this long, distant journey while her husband works to keep up with the costs of their apartment back in Seattle. Please share her cause so she may begin her life-saving treatment on schedule!

About Chanel White:
Chanel White is a young woman battling an aggressive form of Systemic Scleroderma. Over the past few years her life has been plagued by this vicious illness as it attempts to shut down her organs. Chanel's last option for treatment is a clinical trial; The Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant. This harsh, but promising treatment will reboot her immune system, which would greatly improve her life expectancy of a mere few years. Her most heavily effected organs are her digestive tract, and heart. Chanel has been tube fed for over two years, as well as reliant on supplemental oxygen with physical exertion. None of this has ever stopped her fighting spirit, or dimmed her shinning light! Chanel shares her story through social media and is known world wide as an advocate for those battling a serious disease.

What is Systemic Scleroderma?
Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease in which the body overproduces collagen throughout the connective tissue. Your internal organs, skin, and blood vessels become snared in thick, fibrous scar tissue causing them to fail one by one. Having Scleroderma is similar to pumping concrete into your body through an IV. There is no cure for Scleroderma, and minimal successful treatments. Many patients with the aggressive systemic form lose their battle due to the build up of fibrosis in their lungs and heart. For more information on Scleroderma visit here: What is Scleroderma?

On Dec 29th Chanel was admitted for her Stem Cell Transplant. After 6 long days of intense chemotherapy she received her new Stem Cells January 3rd 2017! While the road was very rocky, Chanel successfully completed the transplant and returned home January 13th. Her new immune system will be slowly growing over the next year. The first hundred days are critical to the success of treatment, during which Chanel will have many precautions, and regulations. She will work closely with her transplant team from home home over the next few months.
"For the first time in a long time I am excited for what the future holds!"
Thank you so much to everyone who made this life saving transplant possible. Chanel finally has received her second shot at life!

With the help of generous donors Chanel began the first phase of her transplant November 25th. After 23 grueling days, she successfully created, and harvested 6.33 million stem cells to use for phase two of her journey! After a small break at home, she will return to Chicago for Phase Two on December 26th. Chanel will be inpatient for the entirety of the transplant process, which will last upwards of three weeks. Thank you to everyone who made this life saving medical treatment possible - with your help we reached our 25,000 dollar goal! There really aren't adequate words to express our gratitude.

This week Chanel found out her transplant was APPROVED by insurance! Due to the record fast approval of her transplant, the procedure is being moved up to LATE FALL - her start date is estimated to be in November! This means Chanel and her family need to raise $25,000 by October 31st! Please share her cause so she may begin her life-saving treatment on schedule!
