Center for Girls is a small nonprofit organization working with the community to end human trafficking, gender-based violence and inequality, and empower women and children in Chiang Rai (Northern Thailand).
Most of CFG's sponsored projects are sustainable, participatory, and take place over several years. But staff often encounter cases of individuals or families who need immediate assistance in order to feed themselves, have a safe place to live, or send a child to school. Please read below to find out about River's case and how she needs our help.
Twenty-year-old River lives with her elderly grandmother who is too old and frail to work. River is an orphan, as her mother died of AIDS when she was just two years old and her father died in a motorbike accident.
Despite a childhood and adolescence riddled with tragedy, River is currently studying in her first year at university and is determined to keep working hard so that she can continue her education. However, the reality is that River’s ambitions and diligence are not enough to sustain her education and without some financial assistance the likelihood is that she will have to drop out, keeping her locked into a cycle of poverty.
We are aiming to raise a total of 36,000 THB (~1020 USD) to help River continue her studies, whilst taking care of her elderly and vulnerable grandmother. Small contributions of any amount are welcome and can easily add up to help us reach our target.
Please donate to River's case to ensure that she doesn't have to drop out of university and can empower herself to escape abject poverty. Please share this fundraiser with anyone who may be able to help.
Thank you for your help.
