Center for Girls is a small nonprofit organization working with the community to end human trafficking, gender-based violence and inequality, and empower women and children in Chiang Rai (Northern Thailand).
Most of CFG's sponsored projects are sustainable, participatory, and take place over several years. But staff often encounter cases of individuals or families who need immediate assistance in order to feed themselves, have a safe place to live, or send a child to school. One such case is Bell's.
Bell is an 18-year-old woman who lost both of her parents to HIV and AIDS when she was two years old. Following the death of her parents, Bell was taken in by her grandparents and lived with them for some time. At age fifteen, she fell pregnant and had to drop out of education after middle school to seek work to raise her baby and pay for their expenses.
These days, Bell still lives at her grandparents’ house with her husband and son. Finding employment has been a constant struggle for the family, as a result of which they have an irregular flow of income and often worry about how they are going to take of their child. They live under very difficult and strenuous circumstances.
In order to help Bell return to school to continue her education and find employment, our goal is to raise 24,000 THB (~680 USD). This in turn will help her to provide for her son and buy clothes, food and other basic necessities.
Even a small donation can make a significant difference to Bell's situation. Please feel free to share this fundraiser with family, friends and colleagues who may be able to support us.
Thank you for caring!
