Dear Everyone,

Please accept my humble pranam. All glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga.

At 2.30 a.m. this morning (November 18), Caru left the Batra Hospital by ambulance for Delhi International Airport, in preparation for her 6.00 a.m. flight, and is now on her way to London Heathrow.

This is the result of an incredible effort on the part of an incredible team inspired by Srila Gurudeva and our guruvarga. I am sure it has been amazing and thrilling for every one of us to watch the variegated, loving offerings showered upon Caru – of prayers, of money, of parikramas, of rounds, of ekadasis, of book distribution efforts, and so forth. It was a beautiful and focused team spirit.

Sulata told us that since we wrote to you last, Caru had another operation. The doctors have commented on how much better she looks. She is more bright and chatty.

The other day, Caru said that she felt a real shift in consciousness. It was only when Sulata and Lalit-kishori went to visit her did she find out that it was Srila Prabhpuada’s tirobhava tithi. She said she strongly felt his sweet mercy.

Recently, Srila Bhakti Vijnana Bharati Maharaja phoned Caru. He told her that Krsna does everything for our ultimate good fortune. He then told her the story of a terrible accident he had had in Puri many years ago that lead to him being hospitalized for a while. During that time, he read the entire Caitanya-caritamrta, and it became his absorption. He gave Caru blessings for a quick recovery.

Caru has dictated a brief letter to Sulata to send to you all.

“My dear god-sisters, god-brothers, well-wishers and dear family members,

We never know what can happen in life. This has been a massive shock for me. Without Gurudeva’s mercy and without all the loving care, support, prayers, and financial help of everyone, I could not possibly have gotten through this. I am so deeply touched by it all that my heart melts, especially when I hear of all the sweet and kind messages that people have sent me and of the effort you have all gone to, to support my recovery. I feel completely indebted to all of you. Surely, I will never ever be able to repay any of you for your unfathomable kindness.”

[End of dictation.]

I will write again very soon. Aspiring to serve Sri Guru and the Vaisnavas

Vaijayanti mala dasi

P.S. Hospital expenses were only finalized upon Caru’s being discharged, and I am writing this at 7.00 a.m, so I will get back to you later re the balance of funds and if more money is needed.

p.s. to our last post: Vasanti has increased the goal to $30 000 so people can give to that account. This is not an unrealistic increase because the Delhi hospital medical bills need to be paid for and also the private ambulance from London Heathrow ?to Bristol. That will cost a pretty penny.

Dear All,

Please accept my humble pranam. Jaya Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga.

Sulata told us today that the fourth operation (or the second minor operation) was successful. Overall, although Caru is still in a somewhat critical condition, she is improving. The good news is that there is no nerve damage, so at this point, the doctors have said it seems that she will walk again.

As we reported recently, the doctors in Delhi have said that Caru is now able to return to England, and everything has been arranged that end. The doctors in Bristol’s South Mead Hospital are ready to take her. This was a result of an amazing and concentrated effort on the part of Madhusmitadidi and RamanathPrabhu. Madhusmita said that the lady who coordinates the hospital’s first class Trauma Unit is a complete angel and so concerned, willing to facilitate Caru in every way. This is certainly Gurudeva’s mercy.

Madhusmitadidi has been extensively liaising with hospital offices. Caru’s name is already written on the board as a patient soon to arrive there. Sulata and Lalit have been busy procuring scans of all of Caru’s medical reports from both Agra and Delhi, and these have been sent to South Mead. In this way, the hospital will be best equipped to deal with Caru upon her arrival.

With all of this information, it became most apparent that we have to move Caru to England as soon as possible. Not only will she receive first class care there, but as we have said in previous posts, the donation funds will not last as long as we need them to in India, and also, her loving attendants, Sulata and Lalit-kishori, cannot continue living in a hospital.

The way Caru will travel is called a ‘stretcher flight’. This cannot be arranged through a normal travel agent and there is an enormous amount of complicated paperwork – medical and legal – that needs to be done before the airline will accommodate Caru.

We have contacted a senior doctor who specializes in arranging stretcher flights and will he will also attend to this paperwork. The cost of the service includes a doctor accompanying Caru.

Interestingly, today, DrLeenaDadhwal contacted Sasikaladidi to say that she suggested using the same doctor. This was encouraging for us.

The next, extremely vital information we need to present is in regard to funding. Everyone has been so wonderful and Caru is only improving because of the medical care she has received that has been solely facilitated by donations that have come in.

At the moment we have $16 560 in the on-line fundraising account. Approximately $11 500 of that has been spent on medical bills and we have about $5000 left, to go toward remaining hospital expenses (at approximately Rs 25 000 – per day U.S. $380; British £250).  The total cost of the stretcher flight will come to $15 000. This does not include the cost of the ambulance from London Heathrow to Bristol. We are in the process of researching that.

Some devotees have given us money in India – both in rupees and foreign currency – totaling Rs 130 000 (nearly U.S. $2000).  This means we now have $7000 to go toward the stretcher flight. We have to give Rs 200 000 ($3000) in advance tomorrow for the stretcher flight service to get the ball rolling, otherwise Caru will remain in the Delhi hospital until the funds run out.

In other words, in the next two days, at least another U.S. $8 600 is needed. If this miracle does indeed take place, the on-line fund-raising goal of $20 000 will have been attained. According to the rules, once it is reached, no more funds can be accepted via the fundraising page. If you or anyone you know wants to donate after this, please contact me or anyone on the team, and we will give you the information you require.

We are writing this late at night and will collaborate with others tomorrow about increasing the goal another $5000. To do so is beyond our jurisdiction but we saw the need to immediately inform devotees of the situation.

We want to reassure you that the devotees here who have been assisting Caru, either directly or indirectly, have been doing so at their own expense, to ensure that every cent you send goes to Caru. It is a heartly endeavor on everyone’s part.

If you are able to help, please send a donation via this link: :

Thank you very much.
