The Story

The Cartoon Art Museum recently relocated to San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf. As a charitable 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit we pursue our mission, educating visitors the world over and providing hands-on outreach about cartoon arts as an empowering and equitable medium we can all access and create.

This campaign fulfills the remaining loan and other costs incurred during the full interior renovation required to reopen in the museum’s beautiful new location.

Our fundraising is nearly complete! Our goal will grow in phases to celebrate milestones along the way. We’ve already raised $1 million in phase 1 and 2. Phase 3 is to raise $50K more. Now it's up to you to push us over the top and help us save the day. Supporters, it's time to roll out!

Phase 1: Over $950K Raised through high end donors in quiet phase. Tenant Improvement begins.
Phase 2: Mailing campaign and high end donors  contribute over $50K additional raising $1 million. Museum moves in and reopens.

Phase 3: Raise 50K through crowdfunding (1,050,000 total campaign funds)
The museum will be able to close out remaining due to contractors.

Our capital campaign, Creating a Fantastic Future, is allowing us to transform and meet the museum's specific needs for visitors to best experience cartoon art in all its many forms from around the world and gain insight into the process of creating it. An open concept gallery will house both unique exhibitions and popular events for interactive engagement, an archive will preserve over 7000 pieces in our permanent collection, a classroom will welcome community activation, an educational center and library will create a truly accessible space for visitors to peruse our massive library collection for the first time and provide insight into the process of creating cartoons in year-round workshops and summer cartoon camp.

The funds from this campaign will go towards the Cartoon Art Museum’s Capital Campaign for moving and renovating the 781 Beach Street location in Fisherman’s Wharf and related General Fund expenditures. Some offline donations are campaign pledges in good faith. Contributions of $1,000 or more will be acknowledged on the donor wall in the museum’s lobby.
