The Story

Friends, meet Roo. Roo is an 18 month old standard parti poodle who is blind and deaf. What many would see as an impairment has not slowed Roo down! He still loves to  play, go on walks and show affection to humans. Roo gets along great  with other dogs, and walks well on a leash. Roo does like to mouth at  your hands but only because he gets excited.

Roo is one of many reasons that Carolina Poodle Rescue believes all lives matter. He's very gentle when he takes treats. And although he is blind and deaf he is very upbeat. As soon as you put the lead on  him he knows when we get outside. He loves to run with a human, most especially in the big open fields that are part of Dreamweaver Farms. Roo has a lot of trust knowing that his handler won't let him run into things. He loves to play with toys and tug.

Dogs are born every day with medical issues. Dogs like Roo have a lot of life to give. They can have a good quality of life in the right environments and right homes. Roo is a sweetheart who deserves a family of his own. He will need someone that  understands dogs like Roo that have physical limitations when it comes  to poor eye sight and hearing.

On May 19th, Beans and I will be running to raise funds for Luna's Legacy  Beans is one of the lucky ones... a standard poodle in good health. He can run this race and complete the obstacles without an impairment. Beans and I are running to  ensure that Carolina Poodle Rescue never has to say no to a medical  need for one of our dogs.

In Judaism, it is a tradition to give and receive gifts in multiples of  $18 or "Chai," which represents a good omen for life. Donating in  increments of $18 is often considered a good deed and "mitzvah," and is  commonly referred to as "giving chai." And donating $36 is considered  "double chai." Symbolically, these gestures are representative of giving  a gift of 'life".   At Carolina Poodle Rescue, every life is precious.   I am running with Beans at the U.S. Canine Biathlon  to raise money for these Poodles in need, specially Roo who is blind  and deaf.  His story is detailed below. Donating $18 towards Roo's  medical treatment will provide him with the gift of life.
