Meet my buddy Jesse, one of the 90+ dogs living in loving sanctuary at Carolina Poodle Rescue. Jesse is 6 years young, but has packed a lot of hard life into his few short years. We don't know what may have happened as a very young puppy, but Jesse arrived at Carolina Poodle Rescue terrified of most people.
For only 6 pounds, Jesse is small but fierce - and I love him for it! Jesse spent several years living under a table at our rescue, afraid of everyone around him and defending his territory if you got near it. It was where he felt safe, and safety and security is what we wanted for this boy. About 6 months ago, Jesse began to relax. He came out from under the table, allowed caregivers to groom him, and this past fall I got to hold my precious boy after 2 years of loving him from afar.
I believe there is a home for Jesse out there. He has made a lot of social progress, but has some major medical issues we need to address. Jesse has developed a luxating patella in his rear leg. This condition is painful and results in Jesse limping when he walks. Who can blame a boy for being grumpy when you are walking around in pain all day every day?! The estimate to repair Jesse's leg and provide him loving rehabilitation is $2,000.
This May, I will be running the Canine Bi-Athalon in Anniston, AL. My buddy Jasper and I will run 4 miles through obstacles and mud and who knows what else to raise money for Jesse and his friends in Carolina Poodle Rescue's SOS program. Jasper and I are running for Jesse, who cannot run because his little leg will not allow it. I am raising funds to support my run so that Jesse may run free very soon.
With your help, Jesse can walk free of pain and find his furever family!
