We are taking a stand to help families during their struggles while fighting cancer. In the past 48 hours I have challenged my Chiefs and Sheriffs in Macon and Jackson Counties to join us in “NO SHAVE FEBRUARY”. Thank you Highlands Police Chief Bill Harrell, Sylva Police Chief Tammy Hooper, Franklin Police Chief David Adams and Jackson County Sheriff Chip Hall for without hesitation joining us in and supporting this great cause. To my other Chiefs and Sheriffs don’t feel left out... we’ll be challenging you too in the next couple of days.
Beginning Sunday February 4th, which is recognized as WORLD CANCER DAY, Employees of each agency will pay minimum of $25 to participate but they don’t have to stop there. We are encouraging them to see just how much money each participant can raise to help families with what is often described as the biggest fight of their lives. We aren’t stopping at asking the officers to give financial help. If a member of our community would like to sponsor a local officer please feel free to do so. When you send your check feel free to name the officer you are helping to support. We also ask that if you’d like to help you can also donate by giving in honor or in memory of someone special to you or your family. 100% of the funds are guaranteed to be turned over to Cancer Care of WNC at the end of this event. In Macon County we will add a little fun to it and have a little competition. We will have photos submitted by the officers family which will then be judged by MCSO family members and friends who are known “Survivors” and be crowned as winners in various categories such as “Best Beard”, “Top Dollar by Officer”, “Top Dollar by Unit” and “Most Original Picture”. Cancer is bad enough but the financial burdens that go along with it is a burden that is unimaginable. If you want to donate to a specific officer -- be sure to put their names in the comments of your donation!
This is our opportunity to give those in need some assistance and hopefully reduce some of the weight they carry on their shoulders during the fight of their lives. Thank you in advance for your continued support of the Men & Women who proudly Protect & Serve you and Thank You for supporting this cause.
