We surpassed our goal and by the end of 2016, Calvin had new wheels. Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who supported Calvin on the Move>>>
Calvin will soon celebrate his 7th birthday! Along with Calvin's growth has come new needs, including a vehicle to travel in. He loves going places with his family but is still riding in a toddler car seat and quickly reaching the limit on it.
A wheelchair accessible van will allow Calvin to continue to take part in his family's adventures. A Ford Transit van is the most cost effective option that will allow the whole family to travel in one vehicle. To help make this a reality, we've set the fundraising goal at $35,000. This sounds like an incredible amount of money, but we also know that when God touches hearts with His compassionate love, there are no limits or impossibilities.
Thank you for standing with us to bless Calvin and his family.
When Calvin was born with a rare neurological disorder, his parents, Darryl and Kara struggled to come to terms with the reality he might not have long to live. Almost seven years later the journey has shifted as Calvin has, by God's grace, continued to press on with joy. As each year passes, his family counts it an absolute privilege and blessing that he is here far longer than they expected.
Now, Calvin is 6 years old. He is a quadriplegic; he cannot walk, talk or eat solid foods, and endures countless respiratory infections, but he is a fighter. He is joy to all of us, his siblings, cousins, family members, friends and community. That doesn’t mean his life is easy – for him or for the rest of the family but instead of dismantling the family, he has brought us closer together. We treasure Calvin's small accomplishments, whether that be singing along with us, lifting his head or reaching a new time record in his stander. Calvin has many things that he loves in life; going out with his family to church, family outings, camping, grandma and grandpa's house and even trips to the nearby library to check out the fish tank.
His siblings and cousins are a tight knit group who've learned to give lots of wheelchair rides, belly rubs and hugs—Calvin pays them with huge grins and laughter. He makes every single person feel more loved in a moment than most people can in a lifetime.
