Hey Friends, Loved Ones, & Comrades,
My partner and I are once again facing serious financial troubles. Although I recently got a job at the same place as Cal, the bosses at the school informed us that neither of us will be salaried until next pay period. Cal was shortchanged on his last paycheck as a result, and I won't get paid until the 15th.
While our paychecks should be enough to cover our utility bills and food, we have a LOT of medical expenses and overdue credit bills. As it stands, we won't be able to afford to pay for our beloved cat, Katheryn, to have two broken teeth extracted, and we have outstanding medical bills for vaccinations that are required for me to work at the preschool. Cal is also running dangerously low on his ADHD and anti-anxiety meds, and I have not had access to my own psychiatric meds for over a month due to financial insecurity and losing my insurance.
We hate asking for more money, especially since we just had a fundraiser last month. But times are seriously tough for us, and we need the mutual aid and financial support of our friends and comrades for us to make it through this month. Cal and I are both committed radical activists and labor organizers, and we have both sacrificed a lot of our time, money, and mental and physical health to the labor and social justice movements. While we can't afford to pay everyone back right now, we can both promise that we will do everything we can to support y'all's causes and fundraisers in the future. That's what solidarity's all about, right?
We need about $1,000 extra this month to cover all of our medical expenses and bills, but any contribution, no matter how small, helps. Thanks so much for reading this! Love y'all!
Love and Solidarity,
Jesse Ruth & Cal Colgan
