The Story

Weaver Vale Housing Trust forcibly evicted an 87 year old woman on the grounds that she hoards. They have no right to tell people how to live in their own homes. She earned the right to buy this property after living there for 61 years and NEVER missing a day's rent. Nevertheless, once May asked to buy her home, Weaver Vale started to pester her because all the family collect things and the house was cluttered.

May was eventually FORCIBLY evicted and placed in a Travelodge with her three sons until the stress killed her.  Her sons have a variety of mental health needs and are suffering significant signs of stress.  They were allowed back into their home after a judge had demanded May be given back her rent book just before she died.  They were starting to clear the home and get over the death of their mother when an eviction order was served on them.

Nothing has been sorted yet concerning still purchasing the house as all their inheritance has not been released yet and a solicitor is still fighting their case.  The solicitor has quoted £3000 for her services.  More details at the original petition site here....

Thank you to everyone who supported this petition and I would love to tell you that everything worked out and there was a happy ending. It didn't and it hasn't. Weaver Vale Housing Trust are determined to turn May's sons out of the property and have continued to hound them. Due to fund-raising by the public and any money the sons had they have hired a solicitor who has, so far, failed to win the right for the sons to continue with the 'right-to-buy' request that May started. The solicitor is now asking for more money before she carries on. I think it's time that public support took over and we demanded the right to allow May's sons to use their inheritance to buy the house their mother started to buy and which resulted in the hounding of the family and May's death in a Travelodge. I am using this and the original petition to raise this again in the media. I am going to open a facebook page I will post the link here later. Please help. SIGN & SHARE and watch the media

Sorry for this horrid update.  WEAVER VALE HOUSING TRUST is taking May Appleton's sons to court on Friday for an eviction order!  They are flatly refusing to listen to anything anyone says.  The sons are suffering varying degrees of mental and nervous illness.  Two are retired and one is under outpatient psychiatric care.  They are all still not coping very well with the death of their mother and continuous threats to evict them.  May has provided for them to buy the home when they can access the money.  She was in the process of buying it when Weaver Vale started harassing her to leave.  I have started a new petition.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE sign...

I intend to get Weaver Vale all the BAD PUBLICITY I can - please please help me.  Sign and share this new petition.  PLEASE!  Thank you for raising so much awareness so far...

The Appleton sons were given notice to quit by Weaver Vale.  An eviction order was served on them to leave for 22nd August.  Their solicitor told them to stay put.  At noon on that day, they received a hand-delivered letter to say that Weaver Vale no longer accepted them as tenants of the house and would cease any repairs etc, but they would still expect them to pay rent.

The Appleton's solicitor has been away on holiday and was due to return yesterday.  She is expected to give them further advice about the upcoming, inevitable court case (she thinks it will be around end of September) over the next few days.

I sent a cheque for £1000 of the money raised here to Brian as he needed money for legal costs immediately.  I was told by a friend that he was very emotional at receiving it.  He is amazed that so many people want to help them.

They couldn't fight this without your help.  However much you donated, you are helping to change three people's lives for the better.  Three less challenged men on the streets.  Remember that!

THANK YOU, will keep you updated as things should start moving faster now....
