Can you imagine swimming across Lake Ontario? A 52 kilometre stretch of non-stop swimming across Open Water? A courageous Deaf woman, Brenda Lussier is not afraid to tackle that challenge. She has a dream to become the first Deaf swimmer to do so!
Why is she doing this challenge? To raise $50,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Canada, to help win the battle against this brutal disease that robs its victims of breath.
Brenda almost succeeded in her attempt to swim across Lake Ontario in 2015 BUT was ultimately a strong water current stopped her from reaching the Toronto shore! However, she did swim for 41 kilometres!
This time - let's all help her reach the shores of Toronto and make a history for Deaf people while supporting the cause of finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis!
Brenda has worked tirelessly, swimming in the frigid lake throughout the year and every week at the Pan Am Pool. She has a coach and a team supporting her. We believe in her! She came so close the last time! It will count this time around! Current or not!.
On August 11-14, 2017. Alternate date: August 18-21, 2017. It will happen!
You can watch her story at www.silentswim.com and follow her journey on Facebook Page: Silent Swim to fight Cystic Fibrosis
Let's help her raise $50,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Canada and make history together!
