When I was diagnosed with Cancer, my first thought was "how can I afford this?" I grappled with whether or not to ask for help, and decided that really I had nothing to lose. I had friends that went bankrupt after getting sick and trying to cover medical treatments themselves. I also knew there was a possibility I would be too ill to work full time, which turned out to be especially true in my case. The donations I have received have kept be afloat, and I make sure to try to be gracious and let everyone know how much it helps. Even $20 helps! It also helped me feel less "alone" in my illness. I was able to keep in touch with some of my supporters and their words of encouragement keep me going.
Although we prepared for a premature birth for Memphis, our second child (his sister Harleigh was a preemie as well at 34 weeks) we thought he’d make it longer than his sister. However, at our 31-week appointment, we were sent to deliver right away. Memphis’s lungs were much more underdeveloped than anticipated and what we originally thought may be a couple of months in the NICU ended up as an 8 month (and still counting) stay through 2 different hospitals. I have not been able to return to work due to his condition as well as my own health issues related to his birth. YouCaring has provided a platform for us to not only share our experience and easily provide updates but also to obtain financial support. Every penny matters and we’re so grateful that YouCaring exists and has allowed us to raise money fee-free! We also won a contest and YouCaring donated $5,000 to our campaign! I can’t possibly put into words what this means for our family! We have a long road ahead of us as our little man continues his fight. Thank you, YouCaring!
When there's a bad accident and emergency healthcare comes into play, the patient and close relatives only want to be thinking about healing, not about their healthcare costs. I used YouCaring because more of every dollar goes to the actual patient than the other funding websites and that's what's important right now as we fundraise.
I just wanted to thank YouCaring for providing this wonderful platform for fundraising. My cousin Mary Kathleen lost both her parents last month in a tragic, unexpected accident. As the word spread, so did the donations and notes of love and encouragement. To date, the site has been mentioned almost 800 times in social media and raised over $19K through the platform. Not only did that enable such a large fundraising, but also provided a lasting place for M-K to see that she is loved and even though she has lost her parents, she is part of a community that cares deeply about her. I believe the awareness it brought to the situation may have had a halo effect. Yesterday, the family learned of an anonymous donation made to cover the rest of Mary Kathleen's private school education cost. So you can see the power of this platform made a real difference in M-K's life.
Technology is amazing! YouCaring has given us an opportunity to easily share our story with our friends and family, and they can share it with others with just one click. We've received donations from people we haven't even met, just because of a friend or family connection. It's not only helpful to receive the donations, but also to see how wide our web of support truly is. And YouCaring makes the logistics of sending a thank you email, tracking donations, and transferring funds so easy.
My wife wanted to start a fundraiser to buy a wheelchair accessible van for transportation. I researched YouCaring because it did not charge a set percentage but rather a voluntary contribution. Many people were concerned about that so YouCaring was the way to go. I was able to raise enough money for a down payment, but then my wife got suddenly ill and died. I was able to contact all of the donors about returning their contributions, but everyone said to keep the money for medical bills and funeral costs. It was awkward at first, but being able to contact everyone and explain the situation worked well. Circumstances change. YouCaring was very professional and helpful throughout the whole process. The site was easy to use. I was 100% happy and would recommend YouCaring to anyone. Thanks, Frank Leahy
YouCaring is exactly what it says....you care! It's been an incredibly easy and loving experience for our family during a difficult time because I lost my husband. A celebration of life is in order and YouCaring was the perfect choice for us thank you SO much.
YouCaring has been such a great tool to set up a fund for a family in need. The site is very straight forward and easy to use. I would recommend this site to anyone looking to set up a similar fund. Thank you for having this platform for us.
Thanks to YouCaring I have been receiving donations towards the purchase of a used vehicle to help my son and I get around because of our rare genetic disorder. Hoping to reach our goal soon. Thank you for making fundraising possible for us and very easy to get it out there!
When I discovered another popular fundraiser took an extra 7%, it was disheartening... when we lost my brother and I knew his wife and 7 children needed financial help to manage life after this tragedy, I knew exactly where to go. I'm very happy with the experience and so very grateful for the love and kindness our family has felt.
